In the heart of Marrakech medina is Riad Africa, a serene retreat with a reputation for great Moroccan hospitality. Here, four ancient medina houses are blended to create a charming boutique hotel. Relax around a dipping pool in a tranquil palm-filled courtyard.... Have a nap under the shade of a traditional caidal tent after a morning exploring the bustling medina.... Soak up some winter sunshine on one of the roof garden terraces. At Riad Africa there are several tranquil places to unwind away from other guests.

Decorated in the exotic and vibrant shades of Africa all guest bedrooms are well equipped with all the modern facilities expected of a first category riad. Rooms are decorated with tadelakt, marble and zellige for an authentic Moroccan feel. A delicious Moroccan breakfast is served on the roof terrace, under the shade of a pergola draped with bougainvillea, or in the 'Out of Africa' restaurant. Candlelit dinners can be enjoyed poolside, always utilising fresh ingredients from the local market. Riad Africa's cooking school runs daily workshops - join a class and learn to cook a tasty tagine!

Getting There

Located off Rue Riad Zitoun el Kdim, near the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), close to Djemaa el Fna (5 minute walk) in Marrakech medina; nearest airport is Marrakech Menara (15 minutes by car, 6 km). Drop-off point is Mellah roundabout / taxi rank (then a 3 minute walk to Riad Africa).

Rooms

Cosy Rooms - Four small but cosy en suite 'economy' single or double rooms.

Standard Rooms - Twelve classic Moroccan style en suite twin, double or triple rooms.

Superior Rooms - Four rooms offering more space located in the main riad courtyard.

Junior Suites - Four of the biggest and most comfortable rooms in the best location.

Private Riad Rental - 'Dar Africa', one of Riad Africa's four houses can be rented exclusively.

All 24 rooms have private facilities (with toilet and shower) plus air-conditioning, a TV, hair dryer, safety deposit box, coffee station, bath robes and heating. Superior Rooms and Junior Suites have small refrigerators. Dar Africa (5 bedroom riad), is set-up for self-catering with a small kitchen.

Rates

Rates vary by season. High season is March, April & May plus Oct, Nov and Christmas/New Year.

Cosy rooms from 775 to 975 MAD.
Standard rooms from 975 to 1,235 MAD.
Superior rooms from 1,170 to 1,430 MAD.
Junior suites from 1,560 to 1,950 MAD.
Extra bed 325 MAD.
Half board 250 MAD pp.
